When the upgrade is available:
September 28, 2023
Why we implemented the upgrade:
Memfault's Device Debugging offering utilizes a precise processing system to logically group similar Traces into Issues, enhancing user problem-solving and debugging efficiency. We consistently refine this grouping algorithm based on customer feedback and evolving needs.
In September 2023, guided by our deepening understanding of user applications, we're altering the classification of Android traces.
Description of the upgrade:
Previously, our processing algorithm didn't consider differences in Kernel Oops stacktraces, potentially leading to Issues with Traces with different underlying behaviors. With our algorithm enhancements, we'll now factor in Kernel Oops stacktraces when assessing Trace grouping for more accurate assignments.
How it affects your workflow:
These upgrades will result in the separation of Issues with varying Kernel Oops stacktraces, potentially increasing the number of new Issues. This increase in the number of Issues maps to an increase in the accuracy of our Trace classification. The impact will be limited to Traces and Issues on the Android platform with the 'Oops' Reason.
